Our Flemish white is a lead based white, which is truly the most versatile white around.  We have worked tirelessly developing a Flemish white oil
    paint that handles beautifully, and will not yellow.  When the largest lead pigment manufacturer ceased production of the Flemish white pigment,
    we invested in enough to probably last the rest of our lives.  This also insured that we were the only paint manufacturer to posess this quality of
    pigment.  Obviously, with this amount of investment in one pigment, we believe in Flemish white’s capabilities and usefulness, and want to make
    it available to painters for many years to come.  
       
    Qualities:   Flemish white is ground in a specific walnut and safflower oil blend, with no stabilizer.  This makes a naturally ropey paint, but one
    that is stiff enough to use straight from the tube.  Like other lead whites, Flemish White is not as opaque as a titanium white, but is brighter than
    other Flakes.  If you want to stiffen it up in a hurry, just add a drop of sun thickened oil, and it will seeze almost immediately.  Want it ropier, add
    stand oil, and if you want further light effects add mica or leaded glass powders.  Aluminum stearate paste can be used to make it a little creamier,
    as well as more translucent.  Flemish white is a very unique oil paint, and is compatible with all oil painting techniques.

Leaded glass powder is a very
fine glass powder with lead
added during manufacture.  
This is great for giving a tooth
and refracting light when
thinned.  To give a ground a
tooth simply add the leaded
glass to the mix.
